Have you heard about a Word for the Year? When I did I was bummed because I didn’t have a word and as quickly as I thought that, the word Encourager popped into my head. Wow, I have a word. So what does that mean?
Encourager means: To inspire with hope, courage, or confidence; hearten.
How often do you encourage others? I know I know, it’s hard, we are all busy. The house will eventually get cleaned, the kids will actually do some school work, dinner will get cooked and all the errands will get completed but that missed opportunity will never repeat itself. I don’t want to miss those opportunities. I don’t want to worry about what if I had said this or maybe if I had told them….!
After this past year, my motto has been:
Positive thoughts bring Positive Actions which result in Positive Reactions!!
Becoming an Encourager goes hand and hand with my motto. I don’t want to miss those opportunities to let others know what a great job they are doing. I want to be the passer of hope. I want be a builder of confidence. I want to have the courage to give courage.
So I went to the Bible to see what it said about encouraging others and here are a few verses that spoke to me:
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29 ESV
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 ESV
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25 ESV
Instead of calling this a resolution and not keeping up with it I have decided to call this my non-resolution and make it a life style change. Do you have a word for the year or a non-resolution? I would love to hear about it.
Check out what Marcy and the others have to say about their Words for the Year.
Wishing you many Blessings
