Our first year of homeschooling, was kind of a disaster. We tried recreating school at home and then we wondered how come it didn’t work. Then we went to this small Homeschool Convention. I think up until that day hubby was just humoring me about this whole homeschooling thing. I remember us walking into the vendor hall and being totally overwhelmed by the many choices.
Then we walked around the corner and there was a booth full of games, toys and puzzles, and hubby finally “got” it!! He got so excited and I think he bought 3 different games that taught English, Math and History. He was so onboard at that moment. I mean come on you can actually teach, just by playing a board game!!! Sadly those games, never did get played and are still sitting on the shelf right where they went after we got home from that convention. But those games, they represent so much more than just games. They were the turning point to my hubby’s outlook to homeschooling.
Since that fated day we have used many different games, toys and puzzles to further our homeschooling journey. What games, toys and puzzles do you use?
We have used Hop Scotch for skip counting, bubbles and jump ropes for counting, Monopoly for money counting, Hangman for spelling, and tons of others.
Check out what the rest of the Crew is saying about the Games, Toys & Puzzles!!!
Wishing you many Blessings
