S.O.A.P–I AM

S: Scripture-Write the ONE scripture that I feel God is using to speak to me in today’s reading

O: Observation-What might He be telling me with that scripture?

A: Application-How can I apply it to my life?

P: Prayer-What is my prayer to ask God in helping me to make that application?

Exodus 3:14

“And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!”

This passage is reminding me that the Creator, our God, is everywhere, and with Him nobody can stop me!!

I AM – WOW how powerful is that? God is so much that we cannot even explain all that He is. Remember that our Lord is the ALL powerful ruler and He can handle anything that stands in our way. So when we say we can’t, remember that HE CAN. He is so great that even trying to explain this is mind boggling. Many people have questioned who is God? Where did He come from? Why this? Why that? And honestly He answered it best when He says, I AM!!! Just remember when we have God on our side nothing can stop us!!

Lord, I just thank you for caring for me, for loving me, for providing and protecting me. I just pray that you can use me to spread your word, I ask that you open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my mouth to speak. I pray for strength and understand for where you might lead me. Amen.

SOAP- Feeling Alone

S: Scripture-Write the ONE scripture that I feel God is using to speak to me in today’s reading

O: Observation-What might He be telling me with that scripture?

A: Application-How can I apply it to my life?

P: Prayer-What is my prayer to ask God in helping me to make that application?

Genesis 39:2

“But the Lord was with Joseph, and he [though a slave] was a successful and prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”

Remember that anything is possible with the Lord. When we are having tough times the Lord will still bless us. We might not like the circumstance that we are in, but the Lord is still working in our lives. He will guide us and bless us. Sometimes life is hard, and sometimes it might seem as though nobody is there with you. There will be times were money is tight, cars brake down, someone gets sick, bills are piled up, and it will seem as though nothing is going right in your life. But remember Joseph was a slave, and he was blessed with running his masters house, and even when he was put in prison the Lord was still with him and the warden put him in charge of running the prison. So remember when times seem bleak He is always there.

Lord, Thank you for caring so much for me. Thank you for always being there even when it seems as though I am all alone. Thank you for the reminders through the Bible. Amen.

SOAP-Trust

O: Observation-What might He be telling me with that scripture?

A: Application-How can I apply it to my life?

Genesis 19:17

“And when they has brought them forth, they said, Escape for your life! Do not look behind you or stop anywhere in the whole valley; escape to the mountains [of Moab], lest you be consumed.”

Sometime when we ask for something we still continue to look back at what we left behind. It could be hard to give up our stuff, friends, family, money, time but we need to remember that what He has in store for us is even GREATER then what we are leaving behind. So instead of worrying about what we have left behind lets joyfully embrace what He is giving/leading us too.

Lord, I know I have struggled to allow you to have control over my life, I know I have been slow to give up the reigns. I have looked back, even though I know that what you have in store for me is better, I have been weak. Help me to be stronger. Forgive me for not trusting 100%. Amen.

SOAP-Pruning

S: Scripture-Write the ONE scripture that I feel God is using to speak to me in today’s reading

O: Observation-What might He be telling me with that scripture?

A: Application-How can I apply it to my life?

P: Prayer-What is my prayer to ask God in helping me to make that application?

Genesis 1:28

“And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.”

This reminds me that in order for my life to be fruitful, I need to be pruned. Ouch! We sometimes “fight” with God over what He wants in our lives. We need to remember that God wants us to grow in our faith every day, how else can we grow if we don’t allow some pruning. When we decide to keep things in our life that is not pleasing to the Lord, He will prune it. It is hard to follow the path that God has in store for us if we are allowing outside garbage to clutter our lives. To be fruitful is to pass along the Word, it is to be the light unto the path. How can I be a light, if I am not in the Word? How can I be fruitful if I am not following His plan?

I can be fruitful by reading scripture everyday. Also by listening the 1st time and stop fighting the changes, yes I might be put in an uncomfortable position but honestly God will equip me with the tools to do His work. I will strive to be more faithful, more understanding and more willing.

Lord, I just ask that you coming into my life and prune away. I just ask that you show me how I can be of service to you. I want to serve you and to be faithful. Help me to be more fruitful. Help me see all the resources that you are going to provide to me so that I can continue your work. I ask all this in your Son’s name. Amen.
